Since it’s just a small group of us here, I think it’ll be okay if I tell you about a Top Secret new anthology I’m working on for late 2019 or early 2020. This won’t be announced for a while, so please don’t share any of this anywhere since contracts and the such are still in the works:
Every year when the circus or a carnival comes to town and I take my kids, I think: “I really should edit an anthology of horror stories set in the circus or carnival!”
Each year comes and go, and I never have the time, or other projects get in the way, etc.
But this year, I did make the time and got to work — thanks to your support here on Patreon. 🙂
So far, I have stories on hand from Stephen King, Joe Hill, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Neil Gaiman, Kelley Armstrong, Robert McCammon, Tananarive Due, Michael Koryta, and several others.
Also, there will be “two parts” to the book, with a “horror poetry intermission” in the middle separating them, which I think is pretty neat. For those who don’t dig poetry, you can stretch your legs and get some popcorn and a soda between acts, although I think you’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised if you stick around. These poems are very accessible and pack a lot of punch into just a few words.
The book will be published as a signed Limited Edition in late 2019 or early 2020, and there seems to be some interest in editions after that — trade paperback and eBook for a larger audience, perhaps. We shall see what happens.
That said, stories are still being written, contracts are being signed, and there’s a lot more work to do… but I thought I’d share a little bit of fun news for 2019 with you a bit early!
Best,
Brian
